Lifepath Christian Ministries and Catholic Harvest Food Pantry are gearing up for York Giving: Thanksgiving Edition. This year, we anticipate distributing approximately 2,000 Thanksgiving meal boxes to families in need in York County. Boxes include a turkey and all the trimmings for a complete Thanksgiving meal. The goal is that families can prepare and serve the meal at home, rather than eat in our cafeteria on Thanksgiving Day.
The York Giving project will take place at Logos Academy on Nov 17th & 18th. We need approximately 400 volunteers to help with set-up, distribution, and delivery of meals.
We also need businesses, churches, and groups willing to collect food items needed for the project.
Here are the items we need:
- Canned fruit – peaches, pears, mixed fruit, etc., 15 oz
- Boxed stuffing
- Jars of gravy – 12 oz
- Boxed desserts – brownie mix, cake mix, lemon squares, etc. (things that don’t require many ingredients preferred)
We are asking that groups bring the items to our food pantry at 370 W. Clarke Avenue, (alley behind our Men’s Shelter), 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Mon. through Fri, and 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Sat. Items are needed by Nov 2nd.
We are also seeking financial contributions, or gift cards from local grocery stores, to purchase turkeys. We need approximately 500 turkeys for this project. Typically, the ministry spends $10,000 each year on turkeys.
