Shelter Services

When people are facing immediate crisis and in need of help, they will find open arms at LifePath Christian Ministries. Those experiencing hunger and homelessness will find that hope lives here.

By meeting their most basic needs, not tied to any expectation, those experiencing their worst day can find radical hospitality that welcomes them right where they are — in an atmosphere that reflects God’s love and grace.

Those who want to embark on their journey of hope and seek true life transformation will be guided by one of our case managers, who will connect them to healthcare resources, addiction and recovery services, and help create a plan for employment, housing, and more.

If you or someone you know is experiencing homelessness or poverty, you are welcome at LifePath.

LifePath Christian Ministries has three locations to offer shelter services:

  • Men’s Shelter — 367 W. Market St.
  • Women and Children’s Shelter — 17 Jefferson Ave.
  • Flex Space Shelter — 363 West Market Street in downtown York, PA.

The Flex Space Shelter—located immediately adjacent to LifePath’s main campus and the Men’s Shelter at 367 West Market Street—is a Family Shelter that fills a gap in services for families in need of temporary shelter in the York area. The shelter provides space for men with children, couples or any family unit to remain together. Individuals needing shelter can call 717-845-7662.

“Our priority is providing people with dignity during a time of transition—to be able to stay together as a family unit and remove the stress of being separated,” says Patrick Ball, Interim CEO at LifePath.

Thank you to The Arthur J. and Lee R. Glatfelter Foundation, the Powder Mill Foundation, the J. William Warehime Foundation, WellSpan Health Foundation and members of the local community for your generous donations that made this possible for families in need.

If you are a man seeking emergency services, please call 717-845-7662 ext. 1214.

If you are a woman seeking emergency services, please call 717-845-5947.

Food Services

A hot meal can be the first step in transforming the life of someone experiencing homelessness and hunger. At LifePath Christian Ministries, community meals are served twice a day Monday through Friday.

Any member of the community is welcome to join us during these meals at our Men’s Shelter dining room, located at 367 W. Market Street in York.

Lunch is served 11:30am to 12:30pm and dinner is served 4:00pm to 5:00pm.

Long-term or emergency shelter guests at LifePath are provided three meals a day and alternative meals are offered for those who might work and need a flexible meal schedule.

Showers & Hygiene

Showers are available for anyone in the community who may need them. LifePath provides a hygiene kit, towel, and washcloth. Showers are available 1 to 3 p.m., every day of the week.

Men can visit the Men’s Shelter at 367 W. Market St., during the above time.

Women can visit the Women’s Shelter at 17 Jefferson Ave., during the above time.

Extreme Weather

Throughout the year, weather makes living on the streets extremely difficult for our neighbors experiencing homelessness. LifePath Christian Ministries works with the York County Coalition on Homelessness to provide shelter during extreme weather conditions.

In the summer, a CODE RED is issued for extreme heat, and LifePath will open its doors to provide a cool place to escape the heat during the day and a comfortable place to sleep at night.

In the winter, a CODE BLUE is issued for severe cold temperatures, providing extra space for those to find shelter from the frigid nights.

Anyone who is seeking shelter during this time may call 717-472-8911 to be screened and register for services. Guests must register for a bed between 9am-5pm (7 days a week) and come in between 5:30pm-6:30pm to retain the bed once registered.

pARTNERSHIPs

LifePath Christian Ministries works with several community organizations and churches to provide a full range of services to those experiencing homelessness and poverty.
