Laid off from his job, a frightening health diagnosis, and then an eviction notice . . .
James was on the brink of despair. Facing homelessness was especially terrifying because he knew that, too often, families moving to a shelter get separated. And that separation was just unimaginable to James, especially after being awarded custody of his daughter. “I’m not going to be split up from my child,” he says firmly.
Imagine his relief when James learned LifePath has a shelter that can accommodate the special needs of parents with children! “LifePath is a blessing from God,” James says with a smile. “He led me here.”
The faith-focused environment and change of scene from a cramped camper to LifePath has breathed new life into James. He enjoys having access to our programs and classes, like Rent for Success. “It’s very motivating. We meet every Friday for two hours for eight weeks. It’s about housing, and they teach you different things. At the end, you graduate. They’ll give you these certificates and help you secure housing.”
This Christmas, James and Ireland will have joy in their hearts for the fresh start they are building together.
