From an early age, Greg believed that drugs and alcohol were simply part of everyone’s life. Later, as addiction took control, he tried to quit . . . but time after time, he failed to do it on his own.
“Drugs and alcohol . . . it’s a tough way to go,” he says. “If I wouldn’t have done any of that, I would’ve gone to college and gotten my degree. I was in college about a year and a half because I was working to put myself through school. Then, I got a job and thought I had made it already for some reason. ‘Okay, I’m a manager now of a restaurant making good money. Who needs college?’”
The “good money” Greg was earning fueled his addiction, and in the years that followed, he saw everything spiral out of control—theft, DUIs, and more landed him in jail multiple times.
“It kept getting more serious,” he says, shaking his head. “But I wasn’t taking life seriously.” The last time he spent in jail gave Greg the time to realize he was ready to change his life forever, ready to break the shackles of addiction that had cost him everything . . .
LifePath welcomed Greg with open arms.
“LifePath definitely gave me structure. It gave me stability and confidence that I can do things and succeed without drinking and drugs,” Greg says. “I really like that about this place. If you need help, there’s certified people that can get you help.”
This Thanksgiving will be very different for Greg. He’s working and recently got promoted! He’s got his own apartment and is rebuilding relationships with loved ones. He’s going back to college and is excited for what the future holds.
Deeply thankful for friends who support the life-changing mission of LifePath, Greg says, “The resources here have been fantastic. LifePath has been a blessing since the first day I got here. I’m super grateful for everything.”
Thank you for giving this Thanksgiving season! Your support ensures everyone will receive a delicious holiday meal, warm fellowship, and the tools and encouragement for a new beginning!
